And even more proof that Jesus loves me

Life is good!
So this is what the other buds on my rose bush were looking like this morning.

But that's not the only reason why my life is good. Another reason is because of the scent of honeysuckle that I was also able to enjoy this morning. Now that it's in full bloom everywhere, I get to smell it almost all the way to work - as long as I have my windows open for the ride.

Ya know, anybody who may have just started reading my blog over the last week is probably thinking I'm gay right now. What, with all of the pictures of roses and whatnot this week. And then there were those flowers in my post about my first bike ride of the season. But what can I say? I like flowers.
Anyways...

In addition to these things, starting with last night, we've changed the "format" of our Tuesday Evening Family Service at church. Previously the focus of the service was on our youth group, but since so few of the youth show up on a regular basis anymore, we're trying something different. And one of the things I wanted to try was to make a dinner the focus of the evening, to promote a sense of community in our church the way the first centruy church did. So, I made dinner for everyone who wanted to join us. Chicken fajitas. They were delicious, as usual!

Next up, I have one very busy weekend to prepare for. It will begin on Friday afternoon as JT, P.Dave, probably Bob, and a few others head out to Derry, PA for a small local festival called the Summer Slam Fest. There's going to be food, music, fun & games, and all sorts of other stuff to do. But more important than all of that is the fact that JT will be pimpin' his Indie Podcast by conducting interviews and making connections with the people who organize the event. He's even lined up an interview with at least one of the performers. Her name is Eowyn (yes, as in the character from LOTR), and she rocks. And I get to be his technician, so I get to hang out with everyone he meets, too. I'm also going to use whatever contacts we make to try to promote Compassion and see about setting up a table at the festival next year.
Oh, and things get even better as the weekend goes on because on Saturday I get to go to Moraine State Park for the Moraine Park Summer Festival as a Compassion Advocate. I'll actually be working the table with my trainer, Lisa - who I mentioned in my advocacy post. It's gonna be so cool to meet her in person since I really enjoyed all of the conversations we had during my training. And then, when my "shift" is over, I get to stick around and see Pillar. Another band that really rocks!
But wait! Things get even more intense.
I may actually get to go to the Creation Festival this year. For free no less, and I may be able to take Bob with me, too. Also for free. And can you guess how this might be possible?
That's right, as a Compassion Advocate!
As Lisa has been touching base with me about Saturday's upcoming event we also discussed other things, one of which being how I haven't been able to afford to go to a good festival in nearly 20 years. So she, in turn, contacted the Event Volunteer Specialist for the festival and asked if it would be possible for me to get a few shifts with Bob helping me out. As long as we both work at least one shift each day of the festival, we get our admission for free. Of course, I'm waiting to see what Bob decides. He's hoping to invite a friend so that he'll have someone to hang out with when I'm doing other stuff. And he is trying to get a job, and doesn't want to just get started at work and then have to ask for time off. But we'll see what happens.
And this is only the beginning of summer. I can't wait to see what else God has in store for me!

Your roses are fabulous and its a great picture, the background works well.
Honeysuckle? Divine! hehe
That is a great scent. My mock orange bush is in bloom and the smell is amazing. We like Spring!
Have a great time this weekend. You'll definitely be needing Monday off.

Gee, that looks like a lot of fun! You don't need an official photographer do you? ;)

Hey Mike -- glad to see they're putting your to work. Let me give you some advice about getting kids sponsored...

It's ok to run after a guy and tackle him, and sit on his head until he agrees to sponsor a child.

Your trainer probably won't share that with you.

Anon;
Karen was good for that, wasn't she? Still, I miss those days.
Wink;
Thank you. This is definitely a part of my calling. And I am planning a PTO day for Monday. Now, my daughter wants to take me out for Father's Day on Sunday evening. I'm gonna need some time to recover from everything.
Jeff;
I'll definitely have my own camera, but come along anyway.
Dave;
No, my trainer didn't share that with me. I think the tackle thing might be workable at Creation, but the rest seems a little extreme, even for me.
Will I see you at Creation if I can make it?

I still think tackling was what got me yelled at by Karen!
